How to Stop Chrome from Asking to Save Passwords

Every time you sign in somewhere, Chrome pops up a bubble asking to save the password. Turn the offer off in one place. Passwords already saved stay where they are.

Open Google Password Manager settings

Click the three-dot menu, choose Settings, then Autofill and passwords, then Google Password Manager. Click Settings in the left column of the Password Manager. Or paste this in the address bar and press Enter:

Turn off the offer

Turn off Offer to save passwords and passkeys. The prompt stops appearing on every site. Leave Sign in automatically as it is. That toggle only controls whether Chrome fills already saved logins without asking, and it has nothing to do with the save prompt.

Block a single site instead

If you only want to stop the prompt on a few sites, keep the offer on and scroll to Sites that never save passwords on the same settings page. Click Add, type the site address, and click Add again. Chrome never asks on that site but keeps asking everywhere else.

The next time the save bubble appears on a site, click Never instead of closing it. Chrome adds that site to the never-save list and stops asking there.

Remove a site from the never list

To get the prompt back on a site, return to Sites that never save passwords and click the delete icon beside it. Chrome asks again the next time you sign in there.

If you use another password manager. 1Password, Bitwarden, and similar extensions expect Chrome's offer to be off, otherwise both prompt at once. Turn off Offer to save passwords and passkeys and let the extension handle saving.

If you want the saved passwords gone too. Turning off the offer deletes nothing. Open Google Password Manager, Passwords, click a site, and choose Delete to remove individual entries.
