How to Change Your Gmail Password
Change the password on your Google account from the Security page, confirm the new one twice, and sign back in on every other device afterward.
Gmail does not have its own password. Changing it means changing your Google account password, which takes about a minute from the account security page.
Open your Google account
Click your profile picture at the top right of Gmail, then Manage your Google Account. The account page opens in a new tab.
Go to Security
Click Security in the left menu. Scroll to the section headed How you sign in to Google, which lists your password and any second factors you have set up.
Click Password
Click Password. Google asks you to sign in again with your current password to confirm it is you, and completes any 2-Step Verification prompt if you have it on. If you cannot remember the current password, click Forgot password? on that prompt and follow the recovery steps instead.
Enter the new password
Type the new password, then type it again in Confirm new password. It needs at least 8 characters, and a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols is harder to guess. Click Change Password.
Sign back in on other devices
Changing the password signs you out of your Google account on every other device, including phones, tablets, and desktop mail apps. Open Gmail on each of them and sign in with the new password. The browser you used to make the change stays signed in.
This is your whole Google account. The new password also applies to Drive, YouTube, Google Photos, Chrome sync, and anything else signed in with the same address, not only Gmail.
Turn on 2-Step Verification. On the same Security page, under How you sign in to Google, click 2-Step Verification and follow the prompts. After that, a stolen password alone is not enough to get into the account.
