How to Change Your Spotify Password

Passwords are managed on spotify.com, not inside the app. Anything password related in the app's settings opens the account page in a browser.

Log in at spotify.com

In a browser, go to spotify.com and log in. Click your profile picture at the top right and choose Account. The phone app has an Account entry under Settings and privacy that opens the same page.

Open Change password

In the account menu, click Security and privacy, then Change password. On older layouts Change password sits directly in the left menu.

Enter the old and new password

Type your current password, then the new one in both boxes. Use at least 8 characters and something you do not use on another site, since reused passwords are how most accounts get taken over. Confirm to save. You stay logged in on the device you are using.

Use the reset link if you cannot log in

On the login page, click Forgot your password? Enter the email address or username on the account. Spotify emails a reset link; open it and set a new password. If no email arrives, check the spam folder and confirm you entered the address the account was created with, not one you use elsewhere.

Check whether you have a Spotify password at all

If you created the account with Google, Apple, or Facebook, there is no Spotify password to change. Change the password with that provider instead, in your Google Account, Apple Account, or Facebook security settings. To add a Spotify password alongside the provider login, use Forgot your password? with the account's email address and set one through the emailed link. Both login methods then work.

If the account was compromised. After setting the new password, go back to Security and privacy and click Sign out everywhere so any device still logged in with the old password is kicked off. Check the email address on the Edit profile page too, since an intruder may have changed it to their own.
