How to Make a Collaborative Playlist on Spotify
Invite friends to add, remove, and reorder songs in a Spotify playlist you own by sharing an invite link from the phone app, and remove them later if needed.
A collaborative playlist lets several people edit the same list. You invite them with a link, and anyone who accepts can add songs, remove them, and change the order.
Open a playlist you created
In the Spotify app, go to Your Library and open the playlist. You can only invite people to playlists you made, not to Spotify's editorial playlists or someone else's. To start a new one, tap the plus button in Your Library and choose Playlist.
Tap the invite icon
Under the playlist title, tap the icon that looks like a person with a plus sign. If you do not see it, tap the three dots and choose Invite collaborators. On older versions the option is called Make collaborative.
Share the invite link
Spotify opens a share sheet so you can send the link by message, email, or any social app, or copy it. Anyone who opens the link and accepts becomes a collaborator. They need a Spotify account, but Free works.
Let collaborators edit
Once someone joins, their profile picture appears next to yours at the top of the playlist, and each track shows who added it. Collaborators can add, remove, and reorder songs from their own app. They cannot delete the playlist.
Set the playlist to private if you want
Tap the three dots and choose Make private so the playlist does not show on your public profile. Collaborators keep their access through the invite either way, so privacy only affects who can find it.
Removing someone. Tap the row of collaborator pictures, or the invite icon again, to see everyone on the playlist. Tap the three dots next to a name and choose the remove option. From the same screen you can also stop the invite link from working so nobody new can join with it.
Blend is the automatic version. If you want a shared playlist that Spotify fills for you, choose Blend from the same plus menu in Your Library instead. It mixes the tastes of everyone who joins and refreshes daily without anyone adding tracks by hand.
