How to Cancel Spotify Premium

Premium is canceled on spotify.com, not inside the app. Which page you use depends on who bills you: Spotify itself, Apple, or Google Play.

Log in at spotify.com

In a browser, go to spotify.com, log in, click your profile picture at the top right, and choose Account. The Spotify app on a phone or computer has no cancel button.

Open your plan

Click Your plan in the account menu. On some layouts it is labeled Manage your plan or Subscription. The page shows your current plan, the next billing date, and how you pay. If it says the subscription is billed through Apple or Google Play, skip to the matching step below.

Change to Spotify Free

Click Change plan, scroll to the bottom of the list of plans, and choose Spotify Free. Click Cancel Premium and confirm when asked. The page then shows the date Premium ends.

Cancel through Apple if you pay with your Apple ID

On an iPhone, open Settings, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions, Spotify, and Cancel Subscription. Confirm. Spotify's own account page cannot cancel a subscription that Apple bills.

Cancel through Google Play if you pay there

Open the Play Store app, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions, Spotify, and Cancel subscription. Confirm.

Check the end date

Premium keeps working until the end of the current billing period, and you are not charged again after that. On that date the account switches to Free, with ads, and shuffle-only play on mobile for most playlists.

What you keep. Playlists, liked songs, followed artists, and saved podcasts stay on the account. Downloaded music is removed when the account switches to Free, since downloads are a Premium feature. Podcast downloads still work on Free.

Family and Duo plans. Only the person who manages the plan can cancel it. Everyone on the plan loses Premium on the same end date. Members who want to keep Premium need to start their own plan before then.
