Two mailboxes, two browser tabs, and a steady stream of missed messages in whichever one is not open. Outlook holds several accounts at once, and the second account does not replace the first; each keeps its own inbox, folders, and signature, with a switcher to move between them.
Open the account settings
Click the gear icon for Settings, then Accounts, then Email accounts. The list shows every mailbox already connected.
Start adding the account
Click Add account, type the full email address, and click Continue. Outlook detects the provider and sends the sign-in to the right place.
Sign in with the provider
For Gmail, Yahoo, or iCloud, a sign-in page from that provider opens. Enter the password there and approve the access request Outlook shows. If two-factor authentication is on and the provider rejects the normal password, generate an app password in that provider's own security settings and use it here instead.
Wait for the sync
Mail, contacts, and calendar copy across in the background. A large mailbox can take several minutes, and older messages fill in after the recent ones.
Switch between mailboxes
Use the account switcher at the top of the folder list, or scroll the folder list to the second account's section, depending on the layout in use. The compose window has a From field for choosing which address a message is sent from.
In classic Outlook for Windows. Adding an account is under File, then Add Account, with Account Settings on the same screen for manual IMAP or POP server details when automatic setup fails.
Work accounts and removal. An account managed by an employer or school may require administrator approval, device registration, or a mobile device policy before it finishes connecting, and the request can sit pending until IT approves it. To disconnect a mailbox later, return to Settings, Accounts, Email accounts, select the account, and choose Remove. Removing an account takes its mail out of Outlook but leaves everything intact on the provider's own server.
