How to Remove a Payment Method from YouTube

The card you want off YouTube also shows up under Google Play and Google One, and there is no delete button anywhere in YouTube itself. YouTube has no wallet of its own; YouTube, Play, and Google One all bill through Google Pay, so one card serves every Google subscription on the account. Reassign whatever bills to that card, then remove it in Google Pay.

Check what bills to the card

Go to pay.google.com, sign in with the same Google account, and open Subscriptions & services. Anything active here (YouTube Premium, YouTube TV, Google One, Play app subscriptions) shows which payment method it charges.

Move each subscription to another card

For each subscription still using the card, open it, change the payment method, and pick another card or add a new one. If the subscription is no longer wanted, cancel it here instead. Google does not allow a card to be removed while it is the only payment method on a live subscription.

Remove the card

Back at pay.google.com, open Payment methods, click the card, and choose Remove. Confirm. The card disappears from YouTube, Play, and every other Google service at once, since they all read from the same list.

Confirm YouTube's own billing

In the YouTube app, tap your profile picture, then Purchases and memberships. Tap Manage next to a membership to see which payment method it now uses and change it there if needed. The same page exists on the web at youtube.com/paid_memberships.

If the membership was bought on an iPhone. Memberships purchased through the App Store bill Apple, not Google. Manage or cancel those under iPhone Settings, your name, Subscriptions; the card in Google Pay has nothing to do with them.

If the goal was to stop a charge. Removing a card cancels nothing. Every subscription keeps running on whatever payment method is left, so cancel it explicitly if that is what you want.
