How to Clear Your YouTube Watch History
Delete your YouTube watch history on the website or in the phone app, pause it so nothing new is recorded, and set it to auto-delete on a schedule.
Your watch history drives your recommendations and sits on the History page for anyone who opens your account. Clearing it takes under a minute on the website or in the app, and you can pause it so nothing new is recorded.
Open the History page on the website
Go to youtube.com and click History in the left menu. If the menu is collapsed, click the three-line icon at the top left first.
Clear or pause it
Look at the panel on the right side of the History page. Click Clear all watch history and confirm. To stop YouTube from recording new videos, click Pause watch history and confirm. The same button reads Turn on watch history when you want to resume.
Remove single videos instead
Hover over any video in the list and click the X that appears to delete only that entry. Use the Search watch history box on the same page to find a specific video.
Clear it in the phone app
Open the YouTube app and tap You at the bottom right. Tap History, then tap the three-dot menu at the top right. Tap Clear watch history and confirm. Pause watch history is in the same menu.
Delete by date from your Google Account
Go to myactivity.google.com and choose YouTube History. Click Delete and pick a range: Last hour, Last day, All time, or Custom range. Deletions here apply to every device signed in to the account.
Recommendations will change. Once the history is gone, your Home feed and suggested videos are rebuilt from scratch, so expect generic picks for a while. Pausing instead of clearing keeps your current recommendations but records nothing new.
Auto-delete. On the YouTube History page at myactivity.google.com, click Auto-delete and choose to keep activity for 3 months, 18 months, or 36 months. Anything older is removed on a rolling basis.
