Search results for Global Entry are full of paid sites that look like the government's own and charge hundreds of dollars on top of the real fee, and some never file anything. CBP does not work with any of them and cannot refund what you paid. The one place to apply or renew is the Trusted Traveler Programs site, and its address ends in .gov.
Open the official Trusted Traveler Programs site
Go to ttp.dhs.gov directly, or follow the link from the CBP Global Entry page. Every applicant needs their own TTP account, including children. If a site asks for a "processing" or "service" fee, or its address ends in .com or .org, close it.
Fill in the application and pay the fee
Log in, choose Global Entry, and complete the application with your passport details, addresses and travel history. As of October 2026 the fee is $120 for five years, paid by card or bank transfer, and it is not refunded if you are denied. Applicants under 18 pay nothing when a parent or legal guardian is already a member or applies at the same time. Most applications get a decision within 2 weeks, but some take 12 months or longer, so apply well before a trip.
Finish the interview on arrival or at a center
Once your account shows conditional approval, you have two choices. With Enrollment on Arrival, you do the interview with no appointment when you land from an international trip at a participating airport; follow the signs to the CBP officers. Or book a slot through your TTP account at an enrollment center. Either way, bring your valid passport and proof of residence such as a driver's license or utility bill, plus your green card if you have one.
Renew up to a year before it expires
Log into ttp.dhs.gov, select Renew on the dashboard, pick the program, check each section, certify, and pay the fee shown on the purchase summary. You can renew starting one year before your membership expires. If you submit before the expiration date, you keep using Global Entry for up to 24 months past it while the renewal is processed. A renewal may not need a new interview.
Keep your passport and membership number current
When you get a new passport, update it in your TTP account under Update Documents; a name change needs a visit to an enrollment center. Your membership number, which is also your Known Traveler Number, is near the top of your TTP account page. Add it to every airline booking to get TSA PreCheck, which Global Entry includes.
If you already paid a look-alike site. Check your TTP account at ttp.dhs.gov to see whether an application was ever filed, apply yourself if not, and dispute the charge with your card issuer.
If you only fly within the US. TSA PreCheck costs less and covers airport security only.
