How to Listen to Spotify Offline
Download playlists, albums, and podcasts inside the Spotify app with Premium and switch on Offline mode so music keeps playing without Wi-Fi or mobile data.

Spotify Premium lets you download music inside the app and play it with no connection. This is the only way to listen to Spotify music offline; songs are not saved as files you can open anywhere else.
Check that you have Premium
Downloading music needs a Premium plan (Individual, Duo, Family, or Student). On Free you can download podcast episodes but not songs or albums.
Download a playlist, album, or podcast
Open the playlist or album and tap the download arrow (a circle with a downward arrow) under the title. The arrow turns green when every track is saved. For a podcast, tap the download arrow on each episode you want. Single songs cannot be downloaded on their own; add a song to a playlist and download that.
Keep downloads on Wi-Fi if you want to save data
Go to Settings and privacy, then Data-saving and offline, and turn off Download using cellular so downloads wait for Wi-Fi. Download quality is set from the same area under Media quality or Audio quality, depending on your version.
Turn on Offline mode
Go to Settings and privacy, Playback, and turn on Offline mode. On newer versions the switch is under Data-saving and offline instead. With it on, Spotify shows only downloaded content and never tries to stream, which stops buffering on a weak signal and blocks mobile data use. Turn it off again when you are back on Wi-Fi.
Find your downloads
Open Your Library and tap the Downloaded filter at the top. Everything saved to this device is listed there. If the phone loses its connection while Offline mode is off, Spotify switches to showing downloads on its own after a moment.
Stay within the limits. Downloads live on up to 5 devices at once, with up to 10,000 songs per device, and each device is separate; downloading on your phone does not download on your laptop. Go online at least once every 30 days on each device, or the downloads stop playing until you reconnect.
On desktop. The download toggle sits next to the play button on any playlist or album. Offline mode is not in Settings there; it is in the app's menu bar, under File on Windows and under the Spotify menu on a Mac.
