How to Set a Reminder in Slack
Use the /remind command or the Remind me about this menu to have Slackbot nudge you or a channel at a set time, once or on a repeating schedule.
Applies to: current Slack desktop app; phone app differences noted. Checked September 2026.
You need Slack to tap you on the shoulder later, either about a task or about a specific message. Slackbot handles it and delivers the reminder as a message at the time you choose.
Type /remind in the message box
In any channel or direct message, type /remind followed by who, what, and when, then press Enter:
/remind me to send the report at 3pm
Slackbot replies with a confirmation that only you can see. Nothing is posted to the channel.
Add a repeat if you need one
Put a schedule at the end of the command to make it recur:
/remind me to submit timesheets every Friday at 4pm
Slack understands phrases such as in 20 minutes, tomorrow at 9am, on March 3, every weekday at 8:30am, and every Monday. If the wording is ambiguous, Slackbot asks you to try again.
Remind a whole channel
Replace me with a channel name to have the reminder post in that channel for everyone:
/remind #marketing to update the status doc every Monday at 9am
You must be a member of the channel. You can also use @name to remind one other person.
Set a reminder from a message
To come back to a specific message, hover over it, click the three-dot More actions icon, and choose Remind me about this. Pick In 20 minutes, In 1 hour, In 3 hours, Tomorrow, Next week, or Custom for an exact date and time. When it fires, Slackbot sends you a link straight to the message.
Review or delete reminders
Type /remind list and press Enter. Slackbot shows your upcoming and recurring reminders with Mark complete and Delete buttons beside each one, plus any reminders you set for channels.
Channel reminders are public. A reminder aimed at a channel posts there for every member when it fires, so keep the wording appropriate. Times are interpreted in the time zone set on your Slack profile, so check it if you travel or if a reminder lands at an odd hour.
On a phone. Long-press a message and tap Remind me, or type the same /remind commands in the message box.
