How to See Which Slack Workspace Is Emailing You

Every Slack notification email comes from a specific workspace, and each workspace has its own email settings. You will identify the workspace from the email itself, then silence it at the source.

Read the footer of the email

Open the email. The sender shows as Slack, but the workspace is named in the subject line or the first line of the body, and always in the footer. Look for a line such as "You're receiving this email because" followed by the workspace name and its address in the form name.slack.com. Digest emails with subjects like "Slack activity" follow the same pattern.

Check the list of workspaces on your email address

If the footer is unclear, go to slack.com/signin and enter your email address. Slack sends a sign-in code, then shows every workspace attached to that address, including ones you forgot about. Workspaces where you are inactive are the usual source of digest emails.

Turn off email notifications in that workspace

Open the workspace in Slack desktop or the browser. Click your profile picture at the bottom left, then Preferences, Notifications. Scroll to When I'm not active on desktop and set Send me email notifications for mentions and direct messages to Never. This setting is per workspace, so repeat it in any other workspace that emails you.

Use the unsubscribe link instead

At the bottom of the email, click Unsubscribe or manage email preferences. This opens the same notification setting for that workspace without hunting through the app.

Deactivate your account in workspaces you no longer use

If you do not want the workspace at all, open name.slack.com/account/settings in a browser, replacing name with the workspace address from the footer, and scroll to Deactivate account. If that option is missing, the workspace requires an admin to remove members; message an admin and ask. Signing out (click the workspace name at the top left, then Sign out) only ends the session and does not stop email.

If the email mentions a workspace you do not recognize. Someone may have invited your address, or you joined it years ago with a sign-in link. The slack.com/signin list shows every workspace tied to the address, and you can request removal from each one's admin.
