How to Take a Screenshot on iPhone

The button combination depends on whether your iPhone has a Home button.

On an iPhone with Face ID

Press the side button and the volume up button at the same time, then release. The screen flashes and a thumbnail appears in the bottom-left corner. This covers every iPhone from the X onward.

On an iPhone with a Home button

Press the side button (or top button on older models) and the Home button at the same time, then release.

Edit or share the screenshot

Tap the thumbnail before it disappears to crop, draw on, or share it. Swipe the thumbnail left to dismiss it. Either way, the screenshot is saved to Photos in the Screenshots album.

Capture a full web page

Take a screenshot in Safari, tap the thumbnail, then tap Full Page at the top. This captures the entire page, not just the visible part, and saves it as a PDF in the Files app.

Set up Back Tap as a shortcut

Open Settings, Accessibility, Touch, Back Tap. Set Double Tap to Screenshot. From then on, tapping twice on the back of the phone takes a screenshot with no buttons.

If the buttons trigger Siri or lock the phone. You pressed them one after the other instead of together. Press both at exactly the same moment and let go quickly.
