How to Hide Like Counts on Instagram

Instagram lets you hide like counts in two separate places. One setting hides the number on a post you share so other people cannot see it. The other hides like counts on other people's posts as you scroll your feed. They are independent, and you can use either one or both.

Hide likes on a new post while creating it

Start a new post as usual. On the final screen where you write the caption, tap Advanced settings at the bottom. Turn on Hide like and view counts on this post, go back, and tap Share. The post shows "Liked by" a few names but no total number.

Hide likes on a post you already shared

Open the post on your profile, tap the three dots in the top right corner of the post, and tap Hide like count. To reverse it, open the same menu and tap Unhide like count. This works on photos, carousels, and Reels.

Open Settings and activity

To hide like counts on everyone else's posts, tap your profile picture in the bottom right, tap the three horizontal lines in the top right, then tap Settings and activity.

Tap Like and share counts

Scroll to What you see and tap Like and share counts. On some accounts the row is labeled Likes.

Turn on Hide like and share counts

Turn on the toggle on that screen. Posts and Reels in your feed, in Explore, and on other people's profiles stop showing totals and show "Liked by" a name "and others" instead. Turn it off from the same screen to bring the numbers back.

You can still see your own numbers. Hiding the count on your post only hides it from other people. Tap the "Liked by" line under your post to see the full list and total, or open View insights under the post if you have a professional account. The feed setting also does not stop you from seeing counts on your own posts.

On the website. On instagram.com, click More, Settings, then Like and share counts in the left column and turn on the toggle. To hide the count on one of your posts from the website, open the post, click the three dots, and click Hide like count.
