How to Upload a Folder to Google Drive
Upload an entire folder to Google Drive from the website with New, Folder upload, or by dragging it into the browser, keeping every subfolder intact.

You can send a whole folder from your computer to Google Drive in one go. The subfolders and file names arrive exactly as they were.
Open the destination in Drive
Go to drive.google.com and open My Drive, or click into the folder where the new folder should land. Whatever is open when the upload starts is where the folder is placed. You can move it later if it ends up in the wrong spot.
Click New, then Folder upload
Click New at the top left and choose Folder upload. Pick the folder in the file picker and click Upload. The browser then asks you to confirm that you want to upload the files to the site; click Upload again. Only the browser sees your files during this step, so the prompt is normal.
Or drag the folder into the browser
Open Finder or File Explorer next to the browser window, then drag the folder onto the Drive file list. Drop it when the highlighted drop area appears. Dragging works for several folders at once and skips the file picker.
Watch the progress
A panel in the bottom-right corner lists each file as it uploads, with a running count at the top. Keep the tab open until it reports that everything is complete. Click the X next to a file to cancel it, or click the arrow to collapse the panel while you keep working. If the connection drops, files that did not finish show an error, and you can retry them from the same panel.
Check the result
The folder appears in the current location with its full structure. Office files, PDFs, and images stay in their original formats. If you want Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files turned into Docs, Sheets, and Slides on the way in, click the gear icon, then Settings, and tick Convert uploads before you start. Each uploaded file counts against your storage.
Keeping a folder in sync. Install Drive for desktop and add a computer folder under My computer in its settings. It watches that folder and uploads every change continuously, so it suits folders you keep editing. Turn on Mirror files if you also want the Drive copy available on the disk.
In the mobile app. The Android and iPhone apps upload files, not folders. Tap the plus button, choose Upload, and select the files. Create the folder in Drive first if you need the same structure.
