How to Save a Web Page as a PDF in Chrome

Chrome's print dialog can write a PDF instead of sending the page to a printer. No extension or extra software is needed on Windows, Mac, Linux, or ChromeOS.

Open the print dialog

Press Ctrl + P (Mac: Cmd + P), or click the three-dot menu at the top right and choose Print. A preview of the page appears on the left.

Set the destination to Save as PDF

Click the Destination dropdown and choose Save as PDF. If it is not in the list, click See more and select it there. The preview updates to show where the page breaks fall.

Choose the pages and layout

Set Layout to Portrait or Landscape. Leave Pages on All, or choose Custom and enter a range such as 1-3 to skip comment sections and footers that run for pages.

Trim what goes into the file

Click More settings. Under Options, uncheck Headers and footers to remove the date, page title, and URL that Chrome prints at the top and bottom of each page. Uncheck Background graphics to drop colored backgrounds, or check it if the page's charts and tables rely on them. Lower Scale if a wide page is being cut off, and adjust Margins and Paper size as needed.

For only part of a page, select the text you want before opening the print dialog, then check Selection only under Options.

Click Save and pick a location

Click Save. Choose a folder, edit the file name (Chrome fills in the page title), and click Save. The PDF keeps working links and searchable text.

On a Mac. Chrome uses its own dialog by default, but Print using system dialog at the bottom of the preview (Cmd + Option + P) opens the macOS dialog, which has its own PDF menu with Save as PDF and Open in Preview.

On a phone. On Android, open the three-dot menu, tap Share, then Print, choose Save as PDF from the printer list at the top, and tap the save button. On iPhone, tap Share, then Print, then tap the share icon on the print preview and choose Save to Files.
