How to Check Your Chrome Version

Find the exact Chrome version number from the About page or chrome://version, understand what the four numbers mean, and update if Chrome is behind.

Chrome updates itself, but support pages, extension requirements, and bug reports often ask which version you have. Checking takes a moment and starts an update check at the same time.

Open the About Google Chrome page

Click the three-dot menu at the top right, then choose Help, About Google Chrome. Or paste this into the address bar and press Enter:

Read the version line

The page shows a line such as Version 130.0.6723.92 (Official Build) (64-bit). The full four-part number is your version. The text in parentheses tells you the build type: 64-bit or 32-bit on Windows, and arm64 or x86_64 on a Mac.

Let the update check finish

Opening this page makes Chrome check for updates. If it says Chrome is up to date, you are on the latest version. If an update downloads, click Relaunch to finish installing it; your tabs reopen afterward. If an error appears instead, Chrome cannot update itself, which usually means it is managed by an organization or was installed without permission to write to its own folder.

For the exact revision, the operating system and its version, the JavaScript engine, the user agent string, and the folder your profile lives in, paste this into the address bar:

chrome://version

Copy the User Agent line when a support form asks for it, and the Profile Path line when you need to find your profile on disk.

What the numbers mean. In 130.0.6723.92, the first number is the major version, which Chrome raises about every four weeks. The second is always 0. The third is the build number and the fourth is the patch, which rises with security fixes between major releases. A site or extension that requires Chrome 120 or later only cares about the first number.

On a phone. On Android, open the three-dot menu, tap Settings, then About Chrome. On iPhone, open Settings from the three-dot menu and scroll to the bottom, where the version is listed. Phones update Chrome through Google Play or the App Store, not from this screen.
