How to Find Your IP Address on Android

You need the phone's IP address to reach a local server, connect to a device on the same network, or set up a router or firewall rule. The local address is in Wi-Fi settings; the public one is a web search away.

Open Internet settings

Open Settings, tap Network & internet, then tap Internet. On Samsung, the path is Settings, Connections, Wi-Fi.

Tap the gear next to the connected network

Your current network is at the top of the list with a gear icon beside it. Tap the gear to open the network details.

Scroll to IP address

Scroll down the details screen. The IP address line shows the phone's local address, usually something like 192.168.1.x or 10.0.0.x. If two addresses are listed, the short one with dots is IPv4 and the long one with colons is IPv6. On Samsung, tap View more to reveal the IP address, MAC address, and gateway.

Search for your public IP if you need it

Open Chrome and search for what is my IP. The address at the top of the results is your public IP. This is the address websites and online services see, and it belongs to your router or carrier connection, not to the phone itself. On mobile data, this is the only address that matters to the outside world.

Local versus public. The address in Wi-Fi settings only works on your own network. Anything outside your home or office sees the public address instead, shared by every device on the same connection. If a service asks for your IP address so it can allow access, it almost always wants the public one.

The local address can change. Most routers hand out addresses automatically, so the phone's local IP may be different after a restart or a few days away. If you need it to stay fixed, reserve it in your router's admin page, or set a static IP in the network's advanced options on the same details screen.
